Deve ter sido lá por 1910 que 2 irmãos, na Ucrânia, se apaixonaram e casaram com duas irmãs. David e Boruch Raskin casaram com as irmãs Elner. Em 1914, Boruch e sua esposa Silvie, juntamente com um terceiro irmão, Aizik, que era casado com Sheine Ravin, resolveram tentar a vida na América do Sul, já que a vida para os judeus havia se tornado quase insuportável em sua terra natal. Passados alguns anos, com as dificuldades de comunicação com a Russia após a revolução, as cartas, que no início eram escassas, deixaram de chegar. Nunca mais souberam uns dos outros.
No Brasil os descendentes de Boruch e Aizik seguiram próximos. Tanto, que um neto de Aizik, Leão, casou com uma neta de Boruch, Dora.
Mas há aproximadamente 20 anos, um dos bisnetos de Aizik, médico geneticista, começou a procurar pelas raízes da família. E com estudos de genealogia acoplados à análises de DNA, Salmo ( o bisneto) conseguiu chegar em parentes, que moram na Russia, com uma certa compatibilidade genética. Aprofundando ainda mais as análises, observou que sua tia Dora tinha um grau ainda maior de compatibilidade com estes parentes. Os contatos foram ficando interessantes, soubemos que estes parentes, Vadim e Annya, irmãos, também já tinham se envolvido com buscas genealógicas. Em um certo momento, Vadim enviou uma foto para Salmo, perguntando se sabia quem eram estas pessoas.
Qual não foi a nossa surpresa, ao reconhecermos a foto, que estava também na casa de nossa tia Dora:

The contacts were getting interesting, we learned that these relatives, Vadim and Annya, brothers, had also been involved with genealogical searches. At one point Vadim sent a picture to Salmo asking if he knew who these people were.What was not our surprise when we recognized the photo, which was also at our aunt Dora's house:

Vadim, Annya e Viktor, um terceiro irmão que ainda mora na Russia, são netos de David Raskin. E ontem vivemos um momento histórico, quase milagroso. Após 120 anos, sem que uns soubessem da existência dos outros, encontraram-se, em Los Angeles, Viviane, filha de Dora e Leão Raskin, com Annya e Kira, respectivamente neta e bisneta de David Raskin. Estamos todo muito emocionados e com a certeza de que muitos outros encontros poderão acontecer!
